The Berkeley Tennis Club honored its two USTA National League Finalist teams on Friday, November 4th in the Club Ballroom. Warren Daane acted as Master of Ceremonies and introduced captains Tina Heldman of the Women's 4.0 Senior Team and Steve Booth of the Men's 9.0 Super Senior Team.

The Finalist Women's 4.0 Senior team came within 3 points of winning a national title…a tremendous effort by the team consisting of Captain Tina Heldman, Nancy Rupprecht, Margo Garner, Nancy Powell, Ellen Narasaki, Ellen Green, Judy Martine and Roberta Sung. Congratulations to the entire team for a great year.

The Men's 9.0 Super Senior 60s Team became the first BTC National Champions since the USTA League Era came into existence. Captain Steve Booth engineered a near flawless lineup and the team won 10 of 12 matches in Palm Springs to bring home the Trophy. Congratulations to the entire team of Booth, Dick Hegarty, Karl Hedrick, Bill Wagley, B.J. Miller, Bud Travers, Harrison Fraker and last, but certainly not least, Cliff Feldon. Cliff now has the monkey off his back (Warren) and can cut back on his participation in ubiquitous league play now that he has reached that elusive goal of making (and winning) the Nationals.

The party was catered by Rick and Ann's and the wine served was from Navarro Winery. Special appreciation to Warren, and Geoff Hayes for their efforts in putting on this event. Also thanks to Ken Stutz (who chose the fine Navarro wine) and Gil Rodriguez for for their impeccable pouring technique at the no host bar. Gil, what are you doing wasting your talent as a Dean of a College with such bartending skills? You actually looked like such a happy guy all evening long...
